Bonnie Champlin Centers

Bonnie Centers, age 70, of Mountain Pine, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

She was born on March 13, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Charles Champlin and Verl Maxine Rood Champlin.  She is preceded in death by her parents.

As a young girl she loved her horse, Shamrock, which she rode in the fields to pass the time.  My brother and I found an award of hers from elementary school for being punctual, which gave us all a good laugh.  Her grandson, Caelob Centers, said “Wow, Granny was actually on time!”  We all knew that punctuality wasn’t one of Momma’s strengths.  She could be heard saying “Lordy, I’m gonna be late for my own funeral someday!”  So, we hope you’re here.  Momma was always soft spoken until we would make her upset.  She would then point and shake her finger at us while saying, “Don’t make me tell you twice.”  Of course, we would just look at each other with big eyes and whisper uh oh!  She had careers of being a CNA, a phlebotomist and a driven cosmetology instructor for the Richard School of Beauty.  She was a smart lady and if she put her mind to something you knew she would accomplish anything.  One of her last wishes was to have us kids all together in one room and what she wanted, she made it happen.  She was a loving mother, sister, Grandma Boobbala and a caring friend to many, who will greatly miss her.

Bonnie is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Julian and Cathy Gonzalez and Justin and Jennifer Centers; her daughter and son-in-law, Naomi and Keith Selzer; eight grandchildren, Aloni Gonzalez, Katie and Jesse Worthen, Jolie Selzer, Aidan Selzer, Caelob Centers, Ava Hood, Joselynn Centers and Kaidence Centers; three great-grandchildren, Jaycee Selzer, Oliver Worthen and Daisy Worthen; three brothers, Dennis Champlin, Skeeter Champlin and Harley Champlin; two sisters, Charlotte Champlin and Linda Champlin; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
