Bonnie Pruett Morris

Bonnie Pruett Morris was born near Sardis (Saline County) on Dec 14, 1934. She died following a 14-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease on May 5, 2024, at age 89.


Bonnie graduated from Sheridan High School, class of 1953. She retired from AT&T after over 25 years of service where she earned the title of Telephone Pioneer of the Year in 1987. She also had a short but very successful career with McDaniel Realty in East End.


Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Bea and Marvin Pruett; sister, Christene Grace; and brother, Lonnie Pruett. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Morris; sons, Steve, and Jim Gilmore; brother, Terry Pruett (Doris); nieces, Kathy McCormick and Cindy Thyer (Chris); nephew, Billy Grace (Pat); grandnephews, John Grace and Justin Watts; and grandniece, Kelly Watts.


Bonnie and Ralph were married at midnight on Dec 31, 1997. They were able to make a lifetime of memories prior to Bonnie's illness. They traveled the entire US and most of Canada in their motor home visiting the National Parks, all three coasts, the Great Lakes and Washington DC. They made several overseas trips including visits to all the Scandinavian capitals, Russia, Germany, Jordan, Israel, and the UK. While in Israel they rededicated their faith in Jesus Christ and were baptized in the River Jordan. They also made a trip to Alaska visiting Mt McKindley, Danali Park, Fairbanks, Anchorage, and the Alaskan coast. They made several ocean voyages in the Baltic Sea, Caribbean Sea, and the Alaskan coast. Bonnie was a member of Ma-Tah-Na Temple #136, Daughters of the Nile where she served as Queen in 2004. She also served In Supreme appointee positions in both 2006 and 2007.


Bonnie's visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Her funeral will be at Smith-Benton Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Paul Carter presiding. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery Near Sardis. The pallbearers are Billy Grace, Brian Pruett, John Grace, Billy Dixon, Myron Huit, and Bob Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Launlius, Ben Potter, Eddie Cole, and Tim Pruett. No flowers but please donate to the Alzheimer's Association to help find a cure or at least a treatment for this terrible disease.
