Boyd Z. (Poppie) Bennett, age 67, of Bismarck, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Hot Springs. He was born December 6, 1945 in Hot Spring County Arkansas the son of the late L. G. and Floy Marie Burris Bennett. Boyd was a member of Caney Missionary Baptist Church, worked for Reynolds Metal Co. Patterson Plant for thirty-one years, worked for Henderson State University and was a self-employed electrician. He was a avid sports fan, was actively involved in coaching Little League baseball, softball and basketball. Despite his long illness, Boyd had a strong will and desire to be with his family which were his greatest joy.
Survivors are his wife of almost fifty years, Carolyn Roberts Bennett; one son, Kevin Bennett and wife, Stephanie; one daughter, Alicia Robertson and husband, Brad all of Bismarck; three grandchildren, Parker Robertson, Collier Robertson and Caylin Bennett and one sister, Patriece Lindstrom and husband, Steve of Weldon, Illinois.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 18th at Caney Missionary Baptist Church with Ralph Ruffin and Pat Greer officiating. Burial will be in Caney Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
