Brenda Jewell Brewer

Listen to Obituary

Brenda Jewell Brewer, 77, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord, Saturday, June 27, 2026. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Smith Family Funeral Home, Sherwood, AR.

Brenda was born on February 17, 1949, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late John William and Elizabeth Reeves Brewer. She was raised in Minden, Louisiana, surrounded by the close-knit Brewer and Reeves families, whose love, laughter, and Christian faith helped shape the woman she became. Brenda was a member of First Methodist Church in Minden, LA. She remained deeply connected to her family throughout her life, cherishing her relationships with her siblings, their families, and the many nieces and nephews who brought her so much joy.

As a young woman, Brenda embraced life with enthusiasm. She built a successful career as an Administrative Assistant with Grace Drilling Company in downtown Shreveport, where she was admired for her professionalism, dedication, and kind spirit. She loved spending time camping with family, adored her little dog, Gidgit, watching the LSU Tigers play football, and was especially proud of her black Nissan Datsun 280Z, affectionately named "Midnight."

On May 12, 1984, Brenda married the love of her life, David Brewer. When Brenda married David, she didn't simply marry a man—she embraced an entire family. She opened her heart completely and loved David's children as her own: Shawn, Tiah, Shelly, and Sherry.

Together, Brenda and David shared 42 wonderful years of marriage built on faith, laughter, unwavering devotion, and unconditional love. In later years, as Brenda's health declined, David faithfully cared for her with extraordinary love and tenderness, a reflection of the beautiful life they built together.

Lovingly known as B, BB, Brenda, and Mimi; she never placed importance on what people called her. She was simply grateful to be part of their lives. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, Jessica, Kylie, Justin, and Lauren. She was also blessed with three precious great-grandchildren—Kenzie, Karter, and Becca—whose lives brought her endless smiles.

Brenda had a servant's heart and found genuine joy in caring for others. She loved cooking, baking, and collecting cookbooks, always searching for the next recipe to share. Christmas was her favorite season, and every holiday was made sweeter by the countless homemade treats she lovingly prepared for family, friends, neighbors, doctors' offices, and anyone else fortunate enough to receive them. Giving to others came naturally to Brenda. She never sought recognition—she simply found joy in making someone else's day a little brighter.

When she wasn't in the kitchen, Brenda enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, and simply being surrounded by the people she loved. Her gentle spirit, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Brewer; her beloved brother-in-law, Bob Terry; and her mother-in-law, Joyce Brewer.

She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her devoted husband of 42 years, David Brewer; her children, Shawn (Becca) Brewer, Tiah (Rob) Koller, Shelly Brewer, and Sherry (Armando) McCarty; her grandchildren, Jessica (James) Kotarek, Kylie (Matt) Bingham, Justin Frazier, and Lauren (Bryce) Ganschow; her great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Karter, and Becca; her sister, Sandra Terry; her brother, Mike Brewer; her special sister-in-law, Cindy Brewer; her brother-in-law, Jimmy (Suzanna) Brewer and their family; her nieces and nephews, Michael Terry; Wendy (Jeff) Rickert, John (Jennifer) Brewer, and Misty (Brent) Powell; along with many cherished great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her.

Brenda's legacy is one of love freely given, family faithfully cherished, and kindness quietly shared. The traditions she created, the recipes she lovingly passed along, the holidays she made magical, and the example of a life devoted to serving others will continue to bless her family for generations to come.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, therapists, caregivers, and countless medical professionals who walked alongside Brenda throughout her journey. With special appreciation, we thank Baptist Health, UAMS, CHI St. Vincent, Dr. Jack Sternberg, Dr. Thomas Sneed, and the many dedicated healthcare providers whose skill, compassion, encouragement, and kindness brought comfort not only to Brenda, but also to David and the entire family. Your care was a blessing, and your dedication will never be forgotten.

Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing Brenda is whole again, resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Brenda collected countless cookbooks throughout her life, but the greatest recipes she ever created were never written on their pages. They were written on our hearts—in every family gathering, every Christmas tradition, every meal shared around her table, every act of kindness, and every life she touched with her generous spirit. Those are the recipes her family will continue to pass down for generations to come.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7
