Buddy Black

Buddy Gene Black, 91 of Hot Springs, AR went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at a private care facility, Senior Comfort Living. He was a member of Rock Creek Family Church in Hot Springs, AR. 

Buddy was born in Point Cedar, AR on July 24, 1935 to Mayola Sheets Black and Harvey H. Black. 

Buddy married Dovie Geurin Black. They had two children Debbie Black and Terry Black. 

Buddy was employed with the Hot Springs Municipal Water System for 28 years. 

He was a Christian, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many. He was an avid golfer, gardener, hunter, and a man of many talents. He could fix anything. 

He was blessed with 4 grandchildren: Stephanie Smith (Justy), Johnathan Johnston (Ashley), Kelli Palmer, and Keith Black. Great grandchildren: Easton Smith, Eli Smith, Indi Palmer, Lincoln Palmer, Owen Johnston and Porter Johnston. 

Buddy cared for his wife Dovie until her death in January of 2001. He married Laverne Burton Geurin, they were married 24 years. Adding to an extended family: Tonja Bolding (Danny), Beth Adcock (Darrin) and their families, Lauren & Eric Kelley, Hayden & Lauren Bolding, Kyle Adcock, and Keith Adcock. Great grandchildren: Stella Bolding, Charlotte Bolding, and Wade Bolding. 

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife: Dovie Geurin Black, Brother and Sister-in-Law: Alfred and Pat Black, Sister and Brother-in-law: Evelyn and Glenn George, Brother: Billy and Judith Rowland, Sister: Bertha Harris, and Grandson: Keith Black. 

Buddy's sweet smile and kind, generous heart will be missed by his family and friends.

Family and Friends are invited to celebrate the extraordinary life of Buddy Gene Black on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, 2205 Airport Road in Hot Springs, Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. Burial service will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Steve Johnston, Johnathan Johnston, Easton Smith, Eli Smith, Hayden Bolding, and Keith Adcock. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rock Creek Family Church building fund at 300 Rock Creek Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913.
