Carl Wayman Gunter passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 94.
Carl attended school in Little Rock and later went on to study in Fayetteville. He faithfully served the Lord throughout his life, dedicating himself to teaching Bible studies in nursing homes and through prison ministry.
Carl proudly served in the United States Air Force and the Army Reserve, ultimately retiring from the Arkansas Department of Health. He held the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (SMSGT) in the Air Force and retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel (LTC).
He was well known and loved for leading his annual Motor Coach Tour to New England and the Nova Scotia Tour—an adventure many looked forward to year after year.
Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jo; his parents, Carl L. and Jewel Bost Gunter; and his in-laws, Glen and Eva Lou Gray, and Reba and Wally Post.
He is survived by his special friend and caregiver, Sarah Combs, whom he considered “like a daughter,” along with many beloved cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Baptist Children and Family Ministries.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (921 Main Street). A graveside service will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park, in the family plot alongside Carl L. and Jewel Gunter.
