Carlton Lewis Hughes, age 59, of Bismarck, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017. He was born April 26, 1957 to C. L. and Adgie Lambert Hughes. Carlton graduated from Bismarck High School where he played quarterback for the Bismarck Lions.
At age twenty-three, he opened Hughes Jewelers in Arkadelphia. He was a gifted jeweler and worked for a company traveling to malls and crafted jewelry for customers. Later he owned and operated Carlton's Jewelry in downtown Hot Springs. He had a good business mind and accomplished whatever goals he set.
He was preceded in death by his father, C. L. Hughes.
Survivors are two daughters, April Hughes Pearson and Barbara Hughes Payne both of Mississippi; his mother, Adgie Hughes; three brothers, Rocky, Alan and Mark Hughes all of Bismarck; two grandchildren, Madison Gill of Oklahoma and Charlie Payne of Mississippi.
Visitation will be 11:00 until 1:00 PM Saturday, April 15th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
Graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM Saturday at DeRoche Cemetery near Bismarck.
