Carol Garner

In memory of Carol Garner, an eternal source of love and grace, we announce her passing on November 7th in Little Rock, AR. Carol was more than just a wife, mother, and forever our 'mimi', she was a radiant personality, brimming with joy and love that warmed us all.

Born to the late Don and Helen Turney, sibling along with Donald Turney Jr. Her infectious enthusiasm was evident in her journey from Harrison, AR to world traveler. She met her soulmate Jim Garner and late husband of 62 years, at what is now University of Central Arkansas (UCA.)

Carol leaves a beautiful legacy in the form of her daughters, Wendy (Matt) Perkins and Kelly Mendel, grandchildren Justin (Callie) Honeysuckle, Ali (Wes) Queen, Jay (Meg) Perkins, Maggie (Nate) Larowe, Avery (Ridge) Daves, Bo Mendel, alongside 8 precious great-grandchildren.

Carol was never afraid to step out and experience life. After growing up in the small southern town of Harrison, AR she knew she wanted to see the world. She found a partner in life who was even more eager to see what this world had to offer and she jumped at every chance to experience it with him. Their travels took them across Europe, China to discovering her passion of snow skiing the Rockies and riding Harley's through the hills.

They built a home building business, Jim Garner Construction, that echoed not only their character but also her southern charm. She was the President of the Home Builders Association for Women. Later in life she carried on her career as a realtor with Crye-Leike Realty for over 19 years.

Carol was the friend we all wanted and more often than not the one we needed. She is the one that always showed up for you and expected nothing in return. She was the phone call we all knew we could make when in need.

They were Jim and Carol, she was the ying to his yang, the calm to his storm. They built a life together that we can only envy. They were obviously never meant to be apart, but they will be forever missed.

Visitation will be 1:00 pm, followed by Memorial Service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 11, at Chenal Valley Church, 16025 Taylor Loop Rd, Little Rock.
