From her daughters: Mom was a strong, loving woman. Her faith in God and prayers for others were an inspiration for all of us who knew and loved her. Her family was her life and when she met someone they became family to her. She was always ready to give to and help others.
We are grateful for her Christian example and our heritage of faith.
Mother was an example of what a strong woman can achieve with God's help.
She was born and raised in Scott AR and helped raise many brothers and sisters. She also worked in the cotton fields which kept her from finishing school and she had to drop out in 8th grade. When she turned 18 she came to North Little Rock by herself and began to build her career and family. She worked at Westinghouse for years and put herself through beauty school. After working as a beautician for others for several years, she opened her own beauty salon in the 60's during a time when few women owned their own business. Mother didn't know the word "can't".
Mom married Dad, Shelby Ray Fewell July 23, 1956 , had Dianna in 1957 and Daphne in 1961. Her immediate family was complete.
Mom loved God, family, Christmas, flannel pajamas, red cars and vegetables especially Dad's home grown tomatoes. She made sure our childhood was full of fun times, food and family. Her family was so large that we always had a great time together. She so enjoyed the times our family headed off to Destin, FL together. She loved the times we would all gather together so she could cook for us all. Growing up our favorite was a big country breakfast featuring chocolate gravy and biscuits. And she always cooked too much! If you stopped by her house, you always got fed.
She loved, hugged and kissed everyone. Every child she met became one of "hers". She cherished her grandkids and great grandkids. Lots of spend the night times, holidays and vacations with their Nanny and Pappaw!
We celebrate you today and are so filled with joy that you finally got to be with your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and all those precious loved ones you had lost. You and Uncle Fred have a story to tell.
