Cathrine “Cathie” Marie Ammons, age 77, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away on April 7, 2026, at Saline Memorial Hospital, peacefully, with family at her side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Cathie was born on February 2, 1949, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Ellis and Lulu Sanders. She grew up in Little Rock, where she developed a deep love for family, community, and friendship—values that remained with her throughout her life.
She was a proud graduate of Little Rock Central High School and went on to build a respected career in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster. Cathie was known for her fairness, dependability, and compassion in her work, always mindful of the people behind each claim.
On September 2, 1967, Cathie married Richard Ammons at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Richard survives her, and their family remained a central part of Cathie’s life.
Family was the heart of everything Cathie did. She was a devoted wife and mother, and an especially proud grandmother. Few things brought her more joy than watching her sons and grandsons play sports, cheering them on with enthusiasm and pride. Time spent with family—at games, gatherings, or simply together—was what she treasured most.
Cathie is survived by her husband, Richard Ammons; her sons, Pat Ammons (wife April Ammons, sons Blake Ammons and Ryan Ammons) and Tim Ammons (son Luke Ammons); her brother, Rodney Sanders; her sister, Faye Poe-Davis; and many extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lulu and Ellis Sanders, and her sister, Jeanie Holland.
A woman of faith, Cathie was a devoted member of New Life Church in Saline County, where she found comfort, strength, and a loving church family.
Cathie truly enjoyed life. She loved camping, Mardi Gras Parades, and attending car shows. She also had a passion for trivia and was well known for her quick wit and sharp comebacks. A gifted storyteller, Cathie never missed an opportunity to share a story, often accompanied by laughter and a sparkle that drew people in. Her humor and warmth made others feel instantly comfortable and valued.
