Listen to Obituary

Charlene Clay Bynum, age 81, was at home in Sherwood, AR, with her husband Roger, on October 25, 2026, when our Lord Jesus Christ called her to her eternal home in His presence.

Charlene was born April 30, 1945, in Searcy, AR, to the late John Kenzy and Emma Vandell Clay. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Donnie, Doyne, Robert, Calvin, Julius, and Orbin; also by two sisters, Vannah Oakley and Mary Alice Kaylor.

She is survived by her loving husband, Roger Bynum; two stepsons, Chris Bynum, wife Katherine (Cabot) and Stephen Bynum, wife Trina (Mountain Home); four grandchildren, Aaron, Abigail, Weston, and Kellan; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Charlene graduated from nursing school in 1966. She devoted her life to caring for others. She loved her family with all her heart. There was never a doubt that she would do anything for them. She always brought joy, smiles, and laughter to their times together. She loved playing games, especially Chicken Foot Dominoes.

Charlene had a love for traveling, flowers, gardening, and sewing. She marveled at the beauty God gave us. She enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels from her kitchen window. Charlene was a joyful, praying Christian woman, who loved the Lord and counted His blessings in her life. She anticipated seeing Jesus. She cherished God’s word and His saints. She will be greatly missed by a host of family members, friends, colleagues, and Christian brothers and sisters.
