Charles Lawrence Allen, Sr., 76, of Bryant, AR, went to be with our Lord on June 1st, 2025. He was surrounded by loved ones as he started his journey to his Heavenly Home.
Charles was born in Little Rock, AR, to Frank and Doris Allen on May 27th, 1949. He graduated from McClellan High School in Little Rock, AR. He served 33 years with the Little Rock Fire Department, retiring as a Captain in 2006. He attended New Beginnings Apostolic Church of Bryant, AR. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and continuous episodes of Gunsmoke. Charles also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his granddaughters play fastpitch softball.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Doris Allen; brothers, Frank Jr. and Thomas Allen; and sisters, Doris Johnson and Rose Ripper.
Charels is survived by his wife, Joetta, of Bryant, AR; a son, Charles Jr. (Chuck) of Bryant; two sisters: Rebecca Mullins of Conway, AR, and Patricia (Johnny) Catchcart of Sheridan, AR; two granddaughters: Kerrigan Allen and Keeley (Hunter Pruitt) Allen of Bryant, AR; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and his “Sugar Pie” Nova Bean.
The family would like to thank Elite Hospice of Bryant, AR, for the care and attention he was given during his final days.
In honor of Charles’ life, a visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 9th, 2025, at Smith Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, AR, with a funeral service the next morning, Tuesday, June 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Pastor Jim Whitley of New Beginnings Apostolic Church and Matt Duran of Indian Springs Baptist Church in Bryant, AR, will officiate. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Alexander, AR.
Pallbearer honors have been entrusted to: John Cathcart, Robbie Cathcart, Aaron Cathcart, Justin Dreher, Hunter Pruitt, Jake White, and Jerry Whitley (honorary).
Though Charles will be deeply missed, his legacy of faith, service, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. As we celebrate his life and mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones in his eternal home.
