Charles was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Arnold and Helen Ashton, whose memories remained close to his heart. He also mourned the loss of his sister Anita Kincaid, his brother Larry Ashton, and his son Charles Ashton Jr., affectionately known as "Chuck."

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Tara Ashton, who carried forward his legacy with grace and love. He was also survived by his sister Marilyn and her husband Don Zawojski. Charles found great joy in the company of his grandchildren Brooke, David, Ashton, Emma, and Charlotte, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
