Charles Barg
Charles D. Barg, M.D., age 74 of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed peacefully at his home on December 1, 2017 with his wife of 50 years, Linda Coley Barg (who always called him her "Renaissance Man") and other family members at his side. He was born on March 24, 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Louis and Gertrude Snyder Barg of Forrest City, Arkansas.
Dr. Barg graduated Magna Cum Laude from Memphis State University in 1972. In 1976, he graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical School where he was president of the Honor Society. He established the Barg Family Clinic in 1978. Dr. Barg was well respected by the medical community for his acumen in medical diagnostics and family practice. His patients loved him for his kindness and devotion to their care.
He was a member of Arkansas Medical Society and honored by The American Academy of Family Physicians in Washington D.C. in 1992. He served as Chief of Family Practice at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was an active participant in his community and served on the boards of several organizations.
Charles was a passionate follower of Jesus and a teacher and mentor to many. His ministry emphasized the history and the role of the Jewish people in God's plan for the ages. He was an active member of Fellowship Bible Church for over thirty years and president of the board of Ariel Ministries in San Antonio, Texas. He is the author of Between Two Fathers and the soon to
be published Chosen for What?, The Bloody Trail, The Narrow Path, and Forgotten.
Dr. Barg enjoyed exploring the country on his motorcycle, playing his guitar, fly fishing, flying airplanes, and skiing. He was especially fond of his toy Yorkie, Buckley, whom he called "The Doodle Dog".
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Heather Alison Barg Guinn of Denton, Texas; Sam Barg of Aspen, Colorado; Margot Barg Ogburn Esq. (Jim) of Bozeman, Montana; and Joshua Barg (Christi) of Little Rock. He is also survived by his cherished sister-in-law, Belinda Coley Eley (Rex) of Little Rock, his sister, Barbara Barg of Chicago, brother, Mark
Riable (Kathy) of Little Rock, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four nephews and one great niece.
His family extends a special thank you to Drs. Larry Mendelsohn, Scott Stern, and Tom Hudson for their devoted friendship and care. Charles wished to express his love and appreciation to his friend and mentor, Dr. Robert M. Lewis of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock.
A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Bible Church, 1401 Kirk Road, Little Rock, on Monday, December 4 at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the charity or organization of your choice.
