Charles E. (Charlie) Bright Jr., retired from 3M Company and longtime Little Rock resident, passed away on July 20, 2013. He was 82 years old. He was born September 24, 1930 in Vanndale, Arkansas and moved to Little Rock in the mid 1950's. Charlie was a Scimitar Shriner for over 50 years, a member of the Clown Unit and affectionately known as "POPS". During those 50 years, Charlie participated in parades and circuses throughout the country. Along with the Shrine, Charlie was a 32nd degree Mason, Pulaski Heights Blue Lodge #673, Royal Order of Jesters Court 12 and an avid Razorback football fan.
Charlie was the son of Charles E. Bright Sr. and Allie Mae (Orman) Bright. He leaves to cherish his memory his best friend of nineteen years, Mary Lou Cordell of Jacksonville, Arkansas; daughters, Amber White and husband, Johnny of League City, Texas and Brenda Dhooge and husband, DJ of Surprise, Arizona; one brother, Bill Bright and sister-in-law, Judy, of Conway, Arkansas; two grandsons, Jacobs Overbey Clemons of Norfolk, Virginia and Charles Everett Clemons of Kemah, Texas; niece, Terri Kern (Mike) of Chesterfield, Missouri; nephew, Ben Bright (Amanda) of Conway; three great-nieces, Mary Claire Bright and Caroline Bright of Conway, and Hannah Heiges of Chesterfield; and one great-nephew, Max Heiges of Chesterfield.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23 with Funeral services starting at 11:00 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. at Vanndale Cemetery in Vanndale, Arkansas.
