Charles E. Clark

Charles E. Clark, Sr. of North Little Rock passed away August 15, 2026.  He was born in Palatki, AR to the late Carrie and Aaron Clark on October 22, 1936.

He was preceded in death by his three sisters:  Elonda Munro, Lena Wieberg, and Violet Ghassemi; and a son, Charles Clark, II.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Olga Felan Clark; daughter Roberta Clark and her daughter Natalie (Christopher) Munoz.  Son Roger (Emily) Clark and their children:  Sabrina Clark and Tristan Tims.

Survivors also include, his former wife (Helen) and their children:  Son, Charles Clark, II (Deceased) and his widow (Luz Maria), former wife (Joyce) and their children:  Charles III, and Paul.  Daughter Charlotte (Jerry) Hohensee and their children:  Joseph, David, Jason, Jared, Jamon and Kimberlee.  Daughter Kathleen (Andrew) Salazar and their children:  Hillary and Crystal.  Son, John (Rose) Clark and their children:  Roxanne, John Jr., Jackie and Randi; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Born in Arkansas, but raised in St. Louis, Missouri, he served 4 years in the US Air Force, later settling down in San Antonio, Texas after completing his service.  A jack-of-all-trades, he did everything from driving long haul trucks to construction work--and anything in between.  Ultimately his primary career came as a Professional Barber.

After working in the private sector, he wound up serving his county again, when he was hired by the civilian contractor for the barbershops on all 7 (back then) military installations in San Antonio, Texas. Over a 30-plus year period, known as "Tex", for calling everyone who got in his chair "Tex", he cut hair for brothers, sons, and grandsons--between the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corp among all 7 installations--including reporting for overnight shifts during Operation Desert Storm.  He retired out of Lackland Air Force Base in 1997.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing in South Texas Golf Tournaments, reading, dancing and listening to good music.  Appreciative of all genres, he became quite the fan of Rolling Stone Keith Richards, later in life--always pausing whatever he was doing to listen to an interview, or watch him play.  On his own, he self-taught himself to play saxophone, clarinet, drums, some piano and guitar.

A man of simple means he always felt that so long as his family was happy, healthy and safe,.."what more can a man ask for."

He did leave us with these words to live by: 

   1.  Always take care of your mom.

    2.  Never pray for money, pray for knowledge.

    3.  Always have a plan B.

    4.  You want to know how to do something, or get something done: Read. Ask Questions. Ask more than one person.                                              

    5.  Know when to hold, and when to fold

    6.  Dance with who done brought you.

Service with military honors will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 20, 2026 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock.
