Charles Merrill Deaver, 92, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, in Cabot, AR. He was born on August 20, 1932 in Okmulgee, OK, to Velma Grace and William Elmer Deaver. After graduating from high school in Huntsville, AR he joined the United States Army and bravely served his country fighting on the front lines in the Korean War with the 25th Infantry Division, 87th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. After returning from Korea, he enrolled at the University of Arkansas and received his B.S. degree in Geology. He then worked in Civil Service for the U.S. Air Force Aeronautical Chart and Information Center in St. Louis as a Cartographic Analyst for the Strategic Air Command.

After a long career as a Geologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, he retired and enjoyed time with his family, volunteering with the VA Transportation department, and cheering on his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks. He is preceded in death by his parents, Velma and Elmer Deaver, his sister Jo Belle Weyforth, and his brother, William Deaver. He is survived by his oldest son, Tim Deaver of Mesquite, TX, daughter Shari Edwards (Andy) of North Little Rock, son Eric Deaver (Kristy) of Winslow; his grandchildren, Jake Edwards (Leah), John Edwards, Jason Edwards, Emily (August) Scherer, Mackenzie Deaver, Logan Deaver, as well as his four great-grandaughters.

The family would like to thank the staff and care teams of Stonebridge Assisted Living, Cabot Health and Nursing and Gentiva Hospice.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home, North Little Rock. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 28 at 10:00 a.m. with an Honor Guard Ceremony at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
