Charles F. Douglas, Jr., 85, of Maumelle, went to be with his Lord May 10, 2011. Born in New Edinburg, Arkansas to Charles F. and Myrtle Castleberry Douglas, he was a member of the First Assembly of God of England, the Disabled American Veterans and was a Teamster.
Mr. Douglas was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served in the Pacific during World War II. He was on the ship next to the ship where the peace treaty was being signed with Japan. He also served in the 2nd Armored Division in the Pacific and in Korea. He was an avid crappie fisherman.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Reddin Douglas; sons, Charles A. "Danny" Douglas and wife, Judy of Sherwood and Ricky Douglas and wife, Margo of England, Arkansas; sister, Jimmie Peniles of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Shawn Douglas (Angela), Melanie Boyd (Michael), S. Trevor Douglas (Robin), Chad Douglas (Tonya) and Jody Douglas; great-grandchildren, Kyle Douglas, Mikayla Douglas, Courtney Douglas, Colin Boyd, Sarah Douglas and Lane Boyd.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, officiated by Bro. Jeff Hulsizer and Rev. Mike Brogan. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
