CHARLES DAVID "CHUCK" GRAY (60) After a heroic battle with leukemia, Chuck Gray went to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Kelly "Ted" Gray and Sarah Caroline Gray (Burns). He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jeanne Carol Gray (Hall), brother Jeffrey A. Gray (Erma), sister Kelly Warner, daughters Regina Spears (Wes), Melissa Scott (John), and Lindsey Hodge (Barkley). Chuck was "Pops" to 7 grandchildren, Brittany, Morgan, Paige, Bo, Bethanie, Ethan and Connor, one great-grandson, Ryker, and a host of much-loved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Chuck graduated from North Little Rock High School, and after a brief stint in college at Ouachita, joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon his return to Arkansas, he re-entered the family business, Amboy Glass Company, later opened a restaurant called Chuck's Steak and Seafood, and concluded his work career as Vice President of American Wholesale Glass. An avid sportsman, he particularly enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He loved horse racing, Razorback football, and being a part of the Roadhogs, a group that created life-long friendships. He was a member of the Scimitar Shrine Clowns, past master of Big Rock Masonic Lodge, and was director of the Burns Park Softball Association for several years. As the long-time coach of the Breakers, he was instrumental in revitalizing the sport of girls fast-pitch softball in Arkansas. He was a gifted coach, and so grateful for the opportunity teach and shape lives on the softball field. His legacy lives on in the lives and successes of the many surrogate daughters whom he taught to always give their best,to be good teammates, and to NEVER QUIT. He was a chef in the kitchen, though he would tell you he was a cook. One of the many ways he showed his love was by feeding anyone that wanted to eat - and there was never a shortage of people in line for his food. Chuck was loving husband, father, brother, son, uncle, coach and friend that will be missed by many. But for all his endeavors and achievements, there was never a more important job that filled his life with more joy and pride than being a "Pops". The void in the lives of his family can never be filled, but our memories will live on until we meet again.
