Charles Hoyt Hearn, age 87, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in North Little Rock on April 16, 2026. Born in Greenwood, Arkansas, Charles lived a full and meaningful life defined by service, music, family, faith, and a deep connection to his community.
Charles was married to the love of his life, Blanche Hunt, for more than 60 years. Together they built a strong and enduring family. He is survived by his daughter, September Rew and her husband, Bruce Rew, and his son, Paige Hearn and his companion Mei Travis. He was a proud grandfather to Callie Vucci and her husband, Christian Vucci, and Grace Rew and fiancé Blane Godbee, each of whom brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and John Hearn, as well as his brothers, Dennis Hearn and Dwight Hearn.
Charles earned his degree in music education from Arkansas State Teachers College, now known as University of Central Arkansas. He began his professional life as a high school band director in DeWitt, Arkansas, where he shared his passion for music with young students. He later transitioned into sales before fulfilling his entrepreneurial spirit by opening Hearn’s Furniture. Located on Pike Avenue in North Little Rock, the store served the community faithfully for more than 50 years and became a well-known local institution.
Charles also served his country with honor in the United States Army and Air Force National Guards. He was a member of the 39th Military Police Company, which was called to active duty during the Little Rock Central High School integration crisis, playing a role in a pivotal moment in American history.
Known for his warm personality and easy smile, Charles was someone who made others feel welcome wherever he went. He had a lifelong love of music, especially the harmonica, which he was rarely without. Whether among friends, family, or customers, his music and presence left a lasting impression.
Visitation will be held at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St, on Friday, May 1st from 6:00 -7:30 pm, with services immediately following at 7:30 pm. Graveside ceremony will be at Shiloh Crossroads Cemetery in Greers Ferry, Arkansas, at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
Charles will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, businessman, and friend—a man whose life was marked by kindness, dedication, love of the Lord, and a genuine love for others.
