Charles Tipton

Charles L. Tipton, age 86, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, crossed the River Jordan into Heaven on January 19, 2022. He was welcomed with joy by his parents Fred and Mary Tipton; his siblings, Grant Tipton, Marie Swope, Neva Root and Lois Huddleston. Charles is survived by his dear children Steve Tipton, Sue Clark (Vern), Shelley Melroy (Scott), Kevin Tipton (Lesley {Deceased}), Mike Tipton (Jaci), Kurt Tipton (Janet), grandchildren Justin Melroy (Michelle), Stefanie Bishop (JR), Nick Lowe (Skye), Chris Lowe, (Ashley), Katie Blough (DJ), James Tipton, Hannah Boydston (Brandon), Courtney Lowe, Andrea Struchen, Alyssa Primmer (EJ), Aaron Reisner, Emily, Taylor, TJ, and Zach Tipton, and 15 adoring great-grandchildren and his brother-in-law, Larry Huddleston.

Charles graduated Ottumwa High School in 1953 where he was active in band, orchestra and speech club. He went on to attend North Central Bible College where he graduated with a degree in Theology and went into the ministry. He left the ministry in 1971 and went to work for Aflac and retired in 2005. He went back into the ministry in later years ministering to nursing homes, assisted living centers and filled in for pastors.

Charles was an avid book reader, excellent dancer, aspiring violist, remarkable chef and amateur comedian. Wherever he went in life, he brought light and laughter. To the end, he longed to be useful to God and shine His light wherever God put him. He will be missed greatly by all who were privileged to know him.

Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, January 27th, 2022 and the funeral will be held at 2:30 on Friday, January 28th, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America .
