Cheryl Annette Moore, May 4, 1959 – May 30, 2026. Cheryl Annette Moore, age 67, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at Encore nursing facility in Malvern, Arkansas. She was a resident of Royal, Arkansas, where she lived with her daughter. Cheryl was born in Galveston, Texas, on May 4, 1959. Her upbringing took her across multiple communities, growing up in Galveston and Wichita Falls, Texas, as well as Caddo Gap and Glenwood, Arkansas. A proud 1977 graduate of Glenwood High School, Cheryl went on to pursue her passion for learning at Henderson State University. She graduated in August of 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Education, launching a remarkable 28-year career as a dedicated teacher. To know Cheryl was to know a woman of profound strength. She was bold, outspoken, fiercely independent, and never hesitated to stand up for what she believed in. Yet, beneath her fierce exterior was a joyful, fun-loving woman who loved the Lord, loved to dance, and loved to socialize in her prime. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor, always ready to joke and play around, leaving behind a treasure trove of inside jokes with her daughter and granddaughter that will be carried on forever. Cheryl poured her whole heart into teaching. She fiercely loved "her babies", not only cheering them on in the classroom but maintaining friendships with many of her students well into adulthood, continuing to mentor, encourage, and guide them. Her capacity for love also extended to the many special pets she cherished throughout her lifetime. Of all her titles, Cheryl’s greatest and most profound role was being a mother. Raising her daughter as a single parent, Cheryl consistently put her daughter's needs above her own. She was her biggest cheerleader, teaching her the true definition of love and the power of independence. Cheryl was an incredibly affectionate mother who never hesitated to wrap her daughter in a warm hug, and even into adulthood, she always tenderly called her "her baby." Cheryl's legacy of love lives on through her surviving family. She is survived by her only child and daughter, Jalyn Jones, and her cherished granddaughter, Ramona Jones, both of Royal, Arkansas. As the youngest of four children, she leaves behind her loving siblings: Johnny Moore and his wife Dianne of Hot Springs; Dianne Woodard and her husband Rodney of Glenwood, Arkansas; and Susan Johnson and her husband Lee Roy of Brandon, Mississippi. She is also survived by her nieces and nephew: Randall Moore and his wife Jessicca of Hot Springs; Cindy Mason and her husband Tony of Hot Springs; and Andrea Brignac and her husband William of Brandon, Mississippi. She also leaves behind six adored great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew on the way. Cheryl held her friends close to her heart. She is survived by her dear lifelong friend, Sandy Garner, whom she loved more as a sister than a friend. Cheryl was greeted in Heaven by her parents, O. J. and Ramona Moore of Glenwood, Arkansas;

her grandparents on both sides, including her beloved grandparents with whom she shared a special closeness, Hugh and Marie Vaught of Caddo Gap, Arkansas; and her lifelong best friend and sister of the heart, Dr. Leslie Toombs.

Cheryl will be dearly and deeply missed, but her vibrant legacy will live on forever through the countless lives she touched in education, and through her daughter and granddaughter, who will forever carry her lessons, her strength, and her love in their hearts.
