George Christopher "Chris" Andrus age 58 of Arkadelphia died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at his home. He was born March 5, 1953 in Glendale, California to George Gibson and Willo Jean Neimyier Andrus and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceeded in death by his father, George Andrus and one granddaughter, Adele Andrus. Chris was known as a carpenter and painter, but his passion was fine arts. He taught public school at Little Rock and Arkadelphia, and college at OTC and HSU.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Smith; one son Edward (Aria) Andrus of Fayetteville, Arkansas; three daughters, Marie Andrus of Bryant, Arkansas, Emily (Willie) Perry of San Diego, California, and Sarah Andrus of Yokosuka, Japan; two grandchildren, Michael Hookfin and Elijah Andrus; mother, Willo Jean Andrus of Burbank, California; two brothers, Alex (Jenny) Andrus of San Francisco, California; Merritt (Diane) Andrus of Provo, Utah; and seven nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 17th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home with President Billy Haygood officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday from 9-10 A.M. Memorials may be made to Perritt Elementary Art Club, 1900 Walnut St., Arkadelphia, Arkansas 71923.
