Clarence "Whitie" Rixey, 84, NLR, AR passed away Monday June 6, 2011. Preceded by: Father, John Rixey, PA, Mother, Olive Rixey, PA, 6 Brothers, 3 Sisters, Son, Gary Rixey, AR and Grandson, Ben Rixey, CA. Survivors: Wife, Anne Rixey, AR, Son, John Rixey, CA, Daughter, Deborah Tyre, AR, Daughter, Denise Neal, AR, Sister, Emma Lambert, PA, 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren. Nicknamed "Whitie" for his white-blonde hair throughout his younger years. Born, Rostraver Twp., PA, Raised Monessen PA, 9th child of 11. He enjoyed fishing, Pigeons were his passion. 1942, 16 Whitie trained several pigeons for the Army. Birds were shipped to Washington approved by Army Officials for use of messenger services in WWII. Navy Veteran, enlisted 1943, 17, served during WWII. Married Anne, 1948, Resided- Youngstown, OH. Summer, 1962 moved family-CA, Retired NLR, AR fall 1988, resumed working 1993 to Age 78. Whitie, a Master Carpenter, married 63 years, 4 children, a Catholic and longtime member of LA Racing Pigeon Club, CA. A sweet, gentle, kind, loving man. Whitie was the true meaning of what a man should do and be. He was loved, well liked by all that were Blessed to know him. HE WILL BE MISSED DEARLY. His wishes were cremation-No services.
