Claude Joseph "Joe" Robertson, affectionately known as Papa Joe, passed away on May 4t 026, at the age of 88. He was born on May 13th, 1937, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Joe was a true outdoorsman at heart. He found his greatest joy in the woods, spending countless days at deer camp. He lived for those moments surrounded by nature and the people he loved most. He was rarely alone on those adventures, his sons, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were often by his side, learning traditions and making memories that will be cherished forever.
Joe worked hard throughout his life, beginning at a plywood mill in California before returr me to Hot Springs. He later worked in an electric motor shop downtown and spent t traveling across the state and spent many years wiring the mountain tower before beginning a long career with Charles Edwards.
He shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Shirley Robertson, and together they built a life centered around family, laughter, and simple joys. He loved Razorback basketball, old wrestling matches, gun and car magazines, checker games he fully intended to win, Taco Pronto cheese crisps, peanut butter, Coca-Colas, and just about any sweet treat he could find.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Robertson.
He is survived by his two sons, Eddy Robertson of Hot Springs and Mike Robertson and Donna Bryant of Royal; five grandchildren, Kari (Brad) Calhoun, Kassi Robertson, Zach (Laura) Robertson, Ben Robertson, and Taylor (Emalee) Jones; seven great-grandchildren, Abbigail (Joseph) Killett, Carter Calhoun, Caleb Calhoun, Hunter Robertson, Creed Robertson, Greyson Jones, and Rigden Jones; and one great-great-grandchild, James Killett, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9th, 2026 at 10AM with a celebration of life to follow immediatly after. Both services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home in Hot Springs, AR.
Internment with the family will follow at Godwin Cemetery.
