Clidie Davenport

Clidie Davenport, 86, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away from this life on Sunday, February 27, 2022. Born to Joe and Viola Mae Adkins Crook on June 12, 1935, Clidie was one of 5 siblings who enjoyed their upbringing in the Jacksonville community. She graduated from Jacksonville High School and went on to marry the love of her life, Benny Davenport on February 13, 1956.

Clidie worked at the health department prior to retiring from Southwestern Bell/AT&T in 1992 after 25 years of proud service. She was a member of North Hills Baptist Church in Sherwood.

Clidie's greatest joy resided in the love and comfort of her family, friends, and church family. In her free time, you could find her gardening in her yard. This hobby oftentimes brought more joy (plants and flowers) in the form of new sprouts for pots in and around her home. She enjoyed giving plant starters to family and friends. It was no mistake that Clidie was given the God-given gift of a green thumb.

Clidie is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Benjamin "Benny" Davenport; her parents, Joe & Viola Mae Adkins Crook; sister, Ola Mae Bradley; and brother, James Crook.

Left to cherish her memory are her 2 sisters, Mary Lucille Watson and Leona Brockington, both of Jacksonville, Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her very much.

A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, March 3 at 3:00pm at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
