Listen to Obituary

Connie Coffman Wegert, of Windcrest, TX, passed away peacefully in her home May 1st, 2026. She was 87. Born on October 25th, 1938 in Hopper, AR, Connie lived her life following Christ and caring for family.

While growing up in Montgomery County, Connie listed to WOAI on the family radio and dreamed that one day she would live in San Antonio, TX. Her education began at the Hopper schoolhouse, just behind her parents’ house, followed by graduation from Caddo Gap High School, where she played basketball. While studying Home Economics and Child Development at the University of Arkansas, Connie met her husband to be. They were wed in Glenwood, AR and at that moment she also became a Navy wife.

In 1971, her dream came true when her husband received a unique set of orders moving the family to San Antonio. Connie quickly became an ardent tennis player, was a skilled bowler, and could be counted on to fill in for a game of bridge. When relatives visited, and on special occasions, she enjoyed preparing “chocolate & biscuits” for breakfast. Of course, it was customary to play a game or two of Monopoly, Uno, or Scrabble afterwards.

Connie entered the business environment when she became a realtor, earning her Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation, and eventually becoming a broker. Additionally, she served on the Windcrest City Council and was a member of the San Antonio Navy Wives Club. Connie lent her singing skills to the Trinity Baptist Church Sonshine Singers for 26 years. She was a charter member of the Fellowship of San Antonio (FOSA) and served in the Children’s Ministry there for nine years.

Connie is survived by her sister, Portia Coffman Short of Russellville, AR; Sisters-in-law, Nina Coffman of Hopper, AR, and Patricia Coffman of Norman, OK; son, Sidney J. Wegert II and wife Marilyn of San Antonio; son Preston H. Wegert and wife Nancy of La Vernia, TX; grandchildren Sidney J. Wegert III and wife Taylor of Cibolo, TX, Donna A. Wegert of Los Angeles, CA, and Aric Sidney Wegert of La Vernia; great grandchildren Brooklyn Lynne Wegert, Harley Belle Wegert, Sidney J. Wegert IV, and Waylon Beau Wegert; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney J. Wegert; parents Gillford and Dalure Coffman; sister Occo Coffman Merritt; and brothers Paul Coffman, GH Coffman, Jr., and Dewey Coffman.

Connie will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, joyful great grandmother, fervent aunt, and a seasoned world traveler.

Honorary Pallbearers are Sid Wegert III, Aric Wegert, Charles Coffman, PD Coffman, Dewey Coffman Jr, Craig Coffman, Issac Coffman, Ron Ballard, Collin Ballard, Travis Coffman, and Monty Coffman.
