Cora Ann Jones

Cora Ann Abington Jones was born in Beebe, Arkansas on March 21, 1937, to Thomas (Tom) Abington and Catherine Cobb Abington. She went to the embrace of Jesus on January 4, 2024, in Floyd, Arkansas. She is survived by her three loving children Keith (Tami) Jones of Little Rock, Cathy (Bill) Nance of Floyd, and Clay (Lisa) Jones of Amelia Island, Florida. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, Robbie (Tori) Jones of Little Rock, Lara (Tim) Morris of Floyd, Andy (Tori) Foreman of Beebe, Ryan (Jamie) Jones of Pea Ridge, Blair (Dusty) Skinner of Floyd, Ashley Jones of Paris, France, Gabrielle Jones of Houston, Texas and Tara Jones of Austin, Texas. She was the great grandmother to Ethan, Zoey, Autumn, Catherine, Andrea, CarleeMae, Olivia, Emilia, and Emery. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and dear family friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Catherine Abington, and her brother Eugene Hardeman Abington (Doc).

CA was a proud graduate of Beebe High School in 1955, where she went to the University of Arkansas and achieved a Bachelor’s degree in education. Upon graduation in 1958 she moved to Fort Smith, AR where she and her late ex-husband Robert Jones started their family in 1959. She stayed home with the children until the family moved back to Beebe in 1971, where she started teaching home economics and career orientation at Beebe Junior High. In 1976 she left teaching and was part owner and operator of Citizen’s Bank with her brother Doc. She greatly enjoyed working in the bank until retirement in 1991. She also served on the White County Library Board in Searcy.

In retirement she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, hearing their stories and sharing her love of reading with them. She loved going to spend time in the community with her friends from high school. She is a lifelong member of Beebe First United Methodist Church where she grew in her faith and was an avid follower of Jesus Christ. She was devoted to her family in many ways and loved sharing her stories with her great-grandchildren and looking through photo albums. No holiday meal was complete without her homemade rolls and strawberry jelly. She loved gardening and fresh flowers could always be spotted on the table or in the windows.
