Curtis Wilburn Harding

Curtis Wilburn “Burr” Harding, 94, of Roland, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2026.

Born on February 13, 1932, in the Old Crossroads Community of Maumelle Township—now known as Lake Maumelle—Wilburn grew up with a deep love for the land, the people, and the values that shaped his long and meaningful life.

Wilburn was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Dorothy, his parents Rube and Esther Harding, his brothers John, Ray, and Billy Harding, sisters Evelyn Taylor and Ann King, daughters Rita Bryant and Gail Rogers, and stepson David Cook. He is survived by his children Kurtis Harding-Banchero (Linda), Vaughn Harding (Wanda), Lisa Wright (Mark), Michelle Highfill (Chuck), Sandy Paul, Daniel Cook (Terry).

He leaves behind a legacy of 22 grandchildren, 54 great‑grandchildren, and 10 great‑great‑grandchildren, as well as a dear sister-in-law, Peggy Harding, many nieces, nephews, and other family members, each a living testament to the family he cherished so deeply.

Wilburn proudly served six years in the United States Army as a Truck Master, a role that reflected his reliability, discipline, and quiet strength. After his military service, he worked 10 years for Chickapee Lumber Company, drove a school bus for Joe T. Robinson, and later ran his own lawn service until retirement. Every job he held was rooted in service—service to his community, his neighbors, and his family.

Wilburn lived a full life and enjoyed it. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and simply walking in the woods. Nature was his sanctuary, and Roland—no matter where he lived—was always his true home. He lived with a humble philosophy, summed up best in his own words:

“I try to be a decent man.”

And he was. Wilburn’s decency showed in his faith, his devotion to family, his generosity, and the quiet, steady way he moved through the world. To know Wilburn was to know kindness, humor, and a deep-rooted love for God and community. His presence was a blessing; his absence will be felt by all who loved him.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2026 at Monnie Springs Assembly of God, Roland. Burial will follow at Rainey Cemetery, Roland, AR.
