Cynthia Ann Kidd

Listen to Obituary

Cynthia Ann Kidd (84) went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 20, 2026. She was surrounded by her family singing hymns, sharing their favorite Mimi moments, reading scripture, and praying over her. She was born on December 16, 1941, in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Affectionately known as Mimi by those who loved her, Cindy was present for anyone who needed her. She was a gentle, kind, giving, and caring person who cared deeply for her family and friends. She cared for her mother for over 20 years until she lost her own battle with cancer. She was always willing and ready to travel to where her son-in-law was stationed to help her daughter during deployments or for the birth of her grandchildren. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She would spend hours on the floor playing, reading, and watching movies with them. She also enjoyed attending their concerts, dance recitals, and athletic events to cheer them on. You could always hear Mimi cheering them on the loudest. She was over the moon with joy when she became a great-grandmother. These sweet babies brought a special sense of joy to experience new life through them.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Johnson, father, James Russell Johnson, husband of 32 years, Jesse L. Kidd, Jr.; her brother, James Lester Johnson; and her nieces, Judy Johnson and Janice Strickland.

Survivors include her daughter Melissa Reed, son-in-law Darin Reed, grandchildren Jason Reed (Jessica), Brandon Reed (Kathryn), Aaron Reed, and Kennedy Reed. Three great-grandchildren: Michael, Benjamin, and Jordan. Her niece and nephews: June, James, Frank, and John Russell, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Cindy was a retired insurance agent with Roy N. Borden Insurance Agency. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of North Little Rock for over 45 years. She loved the Lord her God with all of her heart, soul, and mind. She found joy in being obedient to Christ until the very end. Some of her final words were God is good all the time, and all the time God is good. She also loved supporting missions. Especially through her church, as they went on mission trips or were helping out in their own community.

Cindy graduated from Smithville High School in Smithville, MS, in 1959. She loved to play basketball, and she was a huge Elvis Presley fan. She would even skip school with her best friends to get on the front row when Elvis had a concert in Tupelo.

Cindy was a breast cancer survivor. Two years after she beat breast cancer, she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer(never smoked) in December of 2018. She had the most amazing team of physicians and nurses at CARTI and Baptist Health that helped her through this long battle. This treatment and care allowed her to share so many sweet moments with her family-marriages, engagements, college and high school graduations, and the opportunity to meet her great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. Rhonda Gentry, Dr. Alex Orsini, Dr. Hanan Makhoul, and CARTI nurses Kathy, Jessica, Jennifer, and Lynn for your exceptional care.
