Daniel "Danny" Leon Edmonson, a cherished resident of Benton, Arkansas, and beloved family man, left this world on July 23, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on May 31, 1951, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Danny devoted over 40 years of his life to the railroad industry, where he held various roles, including brakeman, conductor, and engineer, the latter of which he served for two decades.
Danny was a proud graduate of Benton High School Class of 1970. Known for his commitment to maintaining friendships, he enjoyed monthly dinners with his classmates, fostering a sense of camaraderie that lasted throughout his life. His connection to his community was also evident in his faith; Danny grew up attending Holland Chapel Baptist Church and later became a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church.
Family was at the heart of Danny's life. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Regina Edmonson, whom he spent 28 wonderful years with. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with love and joy, often hosting family gatherings that showcased Regina's impressive culinary skills. Danny often remarked that her chocolate pie surpassed even the best desserts his mother made, a statement he humorously regretted when it reached the ears of his mother.
He cherished every moment spent with his children—Trina Lindsay, Emilee Lindsay, Tanner Smith and his wife Candace, and Tad Smith and his wife Audri. His grandchildren—Colton Lindsay, Clara Lindsay, Rolland Myers, Suzanne Efird, Addison Smith, Alexis Smith, Teegan Smith, Trace Smith, Tinlee Smith, and Parker Kocsis—as well as eight great-grandchildren, were the center of his world, and he delighted in attending their various activities and family vacations.
Outside of his family life, Danny had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to his yard, eagerly anticipating the arrival of fall, which signaled the start of hunting season. His love for animals was evident in his devotion to his cat, Bella, who he spoiled and cherished as a constant companion.
Danny is survived by his wife Regina, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother Harold Edmonson and his wife Renee, sisters Jackie Dawson and her husband Johnny, and Donna Sheridan, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, Hunting Club friends, Benton High School friends, and wonderful neighbors who will forever hold him in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lilburn Leon and Rosetta Jean (Looper) Edmonson, and his in-laws, Henry and Jean Dreher.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton, AR. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at the same location.
