Danny Miles lived life big, bold, and just a little bit unhinged — exactly the way he liked it. Born with a wild streak and a natural talent for chaos, he grew up funny, mischievous, and endlessly curious.
Music fueled his life. He was a classic-rock man to his core, with Led Zeppelin reigning supreme. He didn’t just play guitar — he became the guitar. Especially when he had his hands on his prized Gibson Les Paul, which he guarded like a sacred artifact. He was ready for a jam session any and everywhere, turning living rooms, porches, garages, and family gatherings into concerts.
He was talented at everything he touched and a perfectionist to his core. A lifelong tinkerer, he was an auto mechanic practically his whole life and worked for his brothers’ HVAC company, M&M Heating and Air, for the last several years. He could fix and build anything we could dream up. He wasn’t just good — he was an extreme perfectionist, which meant every project took twice as long and looked ten times better.
But his true masterpiece? His family. He was a proud father to four daughters, each of whom grew up to be strong, smart, independent, and hilarious women — clearly inheriting their dad’s stubbornness, wit, and sense of humor. Despite the chaos that comes with raising a house full of girls, he never lost his wild side.
In fact, he doubled down. Even after having kids, he remained a full-blown party animal. Every March, the family threw the famous March Party, a massive birthday blowout (his included) that turned into full-weekend festivals of loud music, heavy laughter, and bottomless drinks. Cousins ran around playing, the grown-ups cranked the volume, and the entire house felt like a backstage pass to the best time ever.
He was a science buff, a trivia master, and the best possible person to have on your team. His bathroom reading material wasn’t magazines or newspapers; no, he read a pocket encyclopedia, because apparently that’s the kind of light reading geniuses prefer. He soaked up information like a sponge and could talk about anything — physics, music theory, engines, random facts no one needed to know but everyone was glad he did.
He loved his family fiercely. He loved music endlessly. He loved having a good time without reservation. And he did it all with humor, heart, and a spark that made ordinary days feel memorable.
Danny was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Miles Sr.; sister, Cynthia Miles; grandsons, Myles Whitted and Owen McElderry; and nephew David Miles Jr.
He is survived by the love of his life and longtime partner, Geri Dozler; mother, Shirley Miles; daughters, Nicole (Nathan) Davis, Kristine Miles, Natasha (Daniel) McElderry, and Maisie (Rob) Pruitt; his partner’s daughter, Ashley (Michael) Dozler; brothers, Jerry (Susan) Miles, James (Teresita) Miles, Brian (Kathy) Miles, and David Miles Sr; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
