David A. "Dewey" Compton, age 57, of Murfreesboro, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. He was born on May 10, 1960, in Pecos, Texas, the son of Donald Reed Compton and Mary Helen Webb Compton. On February 12, 1982, he was married to Julie Annette Stockton. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of the Murfreesboro First Baptist Church. For over 30 years, he was employed as a truck driver and was a skilled mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and working in his shop at home, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, whom he adored. Dewey was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Julie Compton; his son, David Justin Compton, both of Murfreesboro; his daughter, Jordan Annette Compton of Springfield, Missouri; two grandsons, Treyton Lane Compton and Lathan Blaine Compton; one brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Linda Compton of Murfreesboro; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Richard Ramsey of Benton and Dianna and Donny Staten of Murfreesboro; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. A Celebration of Davids Life will be held by the family on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM, at the home of David and Julie Compton in Murfreesboro.
