David Beckius

David M. Beckius, 53, passed away October 2, 2012.
Born June 15, 1959 to Ivan and Ruth Beckius of Little Rock, Arkansas, David Mark Beckius arrived in this world full of talent, intelligence and charm.
His great love of and talent for music came naturally to David. As a young child he first taught himself how to play the piano by ear. He went on to play the church organ for Oak Forest Methodist Church at the age of 13, and Second Baptist Church by the age of 15. Other churches who benefitted from his remarkable gift were Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church and Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. Many of the people of Arkansas will remember him as the little boy who played that great big organ at the Arkansas Traveler's home games.
A 1977 graduate of Catholic High School for Boys, David went on to study music at Julliard Academy of Music in New York, NY under the tutelage of Dr. Leonard Raver. While studying and living in New York, he served as organist for St. Patrick's Cathedral, playing for Pope John Paul II, Mother Theresa, and His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.
David received a law degree from the University Of Arkansas School Of Law and practiced security law on Wall Street for some years.
He is survived by his parents, Ivan and Ruth Beckius; his grandmother, Alice Bradley; his brother, Larry Beckius and his wife, Paula; his sister, Kathy Freeman and her husband, Bob; his niece, Jennifer Beckius; nephews, Robert Freeman, Joey Beckius and Keith Freeman; and great-nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly and remember him fondly.
David was blessed by the many wonderful and meaningful friendships that followed him throughout his journey through this life. He and his music will be missed by many.
