It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David “Dave” Roberts, who went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2025 in Sherwood, AR.
Born on July 17th, 1956 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dave lived a life marked by fun, generosity, and self-improvement. He attended Emerich Manual high school and graduated from Indiana University. Dave spent most of his life in Indianapolis where he became an avid sports fan, cheering passionately for the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana University Hoosiers, Indiana Pacers, and Indiana Fever. His love of sports brought him happiness and connection with friends and family alike.
He dedicated more than 27 years of his career as an electronics technician with the United States Postal Service before retiring in May 2025. He moved to Little Rock, Arkansas around 2004 with the Post Office where he lived the remainder of his days. He became a sports fan of Arkansas football and found his Christian faith. He was also a real estate agent where he jokingly called himself “Super Dave Realtor” and did his best to assist his sellers and buyers.
Eventually he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s where it became a challenge to move as he wished. Even through his journey with Parkinson’s across the country from his children, he remained consistent in staying in touch with his family. He would send self-help books, framed pictures, and other gifts to his children as kind gestures. He shared with his oldest daughter, Amanda that he, too, participated in Toastmaster's when he was younger to improve his public speaking skills.
Dave kept his body active by lifting weights, biking, and dancing. He was an enthusiastic participant in a variety of dance classes and groups, including salsa, ballroom dancing, rumba, and more. Dance was a central part of his social life, giving him joy, friendships, and countless memorable holiday gatherings.
His faith was a cornerstone of his life, as he read his bible daily, attended/listened to church weekly, and memorized scripture. He was a devoted member of New Life Church, where he found purpose. A defining moment in his faith was when he was baptized at New Life Church on October 14, 2018.
He was known for being encouraging and generous, expressing kind words, and offering to take care of those around him when he could. He was quick to offer humor and loved to make people laugh.
He is survived by his children including two daughters Amanda K. Roberts, Marcie (Bradley) Price, and his son Daniel Roberts. He also has grandsons that included Dane Knuteson, Henry Price, and step granddaughter Charlotte (Charlie) Price. He is preceded in death by his father, his mother Beverly Roberts, his brother John Owen Roberts and his younger brother Frank Lee Roberts.
A visitation will begin at 2:00 PM followed by a memorial at 3:30 PM on Friday October 3, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home in Sherwood, AR. Friends and family are welcome to join in honoring his memory. His favorite bible verse is listed below:
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes." – Ephesians 6:10-11
