David Dowling

David Willoughby Dowling of Austin, Arkansas passed away August 18, 2020.  He was born November 26, 1950 in Nahunta, Georgia, to Clyde Hilton Dowling and Mary Grace Dowling.  He attended school in Nahunta, graduating high school in 1968.  He joined the Navy after graduation and served four years.

David married Shermaine Joy Dowling April 21, 1972.  They lived in Georgia until 1996 at which time the family moved to Austin, Arkansas in 1996.

David worked with American Tire Distributors in North Little Rock, Arkansas from 1997 until his disability retirement in 2012, as a delivery transport driver, and thoroughly enjoyed his years with ATD.

He recently was undergoing treatment for Lung Cancer with CARTI, but his failing health prevented the completion of his treatment.

A quiet, gentle, happy-spirited and kind man, David was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, whose serving nature has been adored and appreciated and will be greatly missed.  He was a giving individual, a Godly man, and lived a quiet, contented life.

He is survived by his children, Shawn Hilton Dowling, 42 of Hoboken Georgia and April Rae Dowling, 37 of Cabot, Arkansas; grandsons Gabriel (Gabe) Dowling, 17 of Hoboken, Georgia, Malachi Dowling, 14 of Hoboken, Georgia, Chase Skyler Adams, 14 of Cabot, Arkansas and Brian Tyler Adams, 10, of Cabot, Arkansas; sisters Linda Riner of Brunswick, Georgia and Vanessa King of Avera, Georgia, and brother Danny Dowling of Jesup, Georgia.

David was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Hilton Dowling and Ann Hackle.

No service will be offered at this time, but friends and family are welcome to make memorial tribute donations in David’s name to CARTI at Carti.com/foundation or send checks to CARTI Foundation, PO Box 55011, Little Rock, AR  72215.
