David E. "Bubba" Houchin

David E "Bubba" Houchin, 72, of Arkansas, passed away on August 28, 2026, in Little Rock, Arkansas. His passing marks the close of a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep love for the outdoors.

Born on November 9, 1953, in New Port, Arkansas, David carried with him throughout his life the values that shaped him early on. He was known as a strong man, a businessman, and a good old country boy whose steady presence left a lasting impression on those around him. He approached life with good humor, strong wisdom, and a willingness to share advice, especially with the people he loved most.

David spent many years building a career through dedication and determination. He worked as a salesman at Skil Corporation, then as a salesman at Duol Fast. He later became the owner of Arkansas Industrial Power Tool Company and eventually retired from Southern Fastening. His working life reflected his belief in the value of hard work, and he passed that lesson on to his family by both word and example.

For 52 years, David was married to his wife, Dee Houchin. Together they built a family that remained at the center of his life. He is survived by Dee Houchin; his sons, Quincy Houchin and Ashlee, Justin Houchin and Victoria, and Chris Houchin and Nikkie; his grandchildren, Brayden Houchin and Emily Houchin; and honorary grandson, Dustin Crow. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Houchin, and his father, Elmo Houchin.

David loved his family deeply and was loving to family and friends. He especially loved being a grandfather and spoiling his grandkids. He enjoyed talking with his sons, teaching them to love the same passions that meant so much to him, and showing them the value of hard work. He also taught his daughters-in-law to have patience, offering the same advice and perspective that became part of his strong and steady way of living.

Outside of work, David found great joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and visiting with friends. He was happiest spending time outside, whether that meant working in the garden, enjoying camping trips with his friends and boys, or heading out for quail hunting and pheasant hunting. He was a lover of quail hunting and took special pleasure in running his hunting dogs. He also enjoyed collecting arrowheads, a pastime that reflected his appreciation for the land and the quiet rewards it offered.

Those who knew David will remember a man who worked hard, loved his family, and carried himself with strength. He was a man of wisdom and humor, someone who spoke openly about what mattered to him. He knew the Lord and openly accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, a faith that was part of his life and his testimony.
