Dempsey Murphy

Dempsey "Leon" Murphy, Jr., 53, of Cabot completed his journey here on earth this 18th day of July 2013. He retired a Sergeant First Class within the 212th Signal Battalion in the United States Army with 28 years of service. Leon was one of the owners of Crocus Flowers & Gifts. He was a member of V.F.W., American Legion, DAV, as well as the LRAFB Bowling Association. Leon volunteered coaching basketball for 13 years at Cabot Parks and Recreation. Leon was a Veterans representative for the Department of Work Force Services in Jacksonville/Cabot area for 5 years and completed his Master Degree after his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Murphy, of Cabot; five sons, Richard Murphy (Jessica), of Cabot, Matthew Murphy, of Little Rock, David James Harris, of Ozark, AR, Matthew Harris, of Grafenwoehr, Germany and Andrew Harris, of Cabot; daughter, Tabitha Ashlee Jo Murphy, of Cabot; four grandchildren, Alanis, Savannah, Lilly and Mason; father, Dempsey Murphy, Sr., of Lonoke; sister, Donna Westmoreland (Berl) of Benton; brother, Steven Murphy (Laura), of Lonoke; and his beloved aunt, Reba Abbott, of North Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn (Abbott) Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00A.M., Tuesday 23 July 2013 at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sumner Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday 22 July 2013 at the funeral home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com . Memorials may be made to: American Leukemia Society.
