Derry Wayne Pinson

Derry Wayne Pinson, age 72, of Umpire, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

He was born on April 4, 1953, in Langley. Derry was the son of Tom Pinson and Bessie Morphew Pinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Pat Pinson and Mike Pinson; his four sisters, Russia Taylor, Susie Ledbetter, Lois Dean, and Vernell Risner; and his childhood best friend, Donnie Seals.

Derry was a hard worker, working as a logger for many years and was known as "Ridge Runner" to his logging buddies. He enjoyed hunting, running his dogs, driving stock cars, and going to the casino. Most of all, Derry loved being Papa Pinson to his grandchildren. Derry was a loving dad, papa pinson, brother, uncle, and friend and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his two children and their spouses, Wes and Ann Pinson and Jeri and Blake Forga all of Amity; his seven grandchildren, Gabe Forga, Raeleigh Sproles, Ellery Pinson, Byron Pinson, Dean Forga, Eden Rather, and Daxton Pinson; his best fur friend, Rambo; his three brothers, Jimmy Pinson, Jerry Pinson, and Jackie Pinson, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.

Pallbearers will be Bob Pinson, Jeremy Jewell, Daniel Faulkner, Rusty Cook, Gabe Forga, and Byron Pinson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Manasco, Tony Kirkpatrick, and all of his logging buddies.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.

Visitation will be held an hour prior to services on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be held at Langley Hall Cemetery.
