Dewey Thompson, Jr., age 83, of Norman, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
He was born on February 3, 1943, in Dryden, Virginia. Dewey was the son of Dewey Thompson, Sr. and Isabell Middleton Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jerry Thompson; and his son-in-law, Robert Shefelton, Jr.
Dewey married the love of his life, Mary, on October 9, 1965. He served in the United States Army for two years before he was medically honorably discharged. He was a member on Mattaponi Baptist Church and attended Glenwood First Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing but most of all, Dewey loved spending time with his family. Dewey was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mary Thompson of Richmond, Virginia; his daughter, Sherry Thompson Shefelton of Norman; his three grandchildren, Kalley (Justin) Cline of Norman, Robert (Annalisa) Shefelton III of San Antonio, Texas, and Samantha Shefelton (Nicholas Baker) of DeQueen; and his two great-granddaughters, Laney Cline and Ada Grace Cline; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Pallbearers will be Robert Shefelton III, Justin Cline, Nick Baker, Bill Jonk, Bruce Burtness, Terry Dickerson, and Eddie Harrison.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Glenwood First Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Glenwood First Baptist Church.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.
