Dewitt T. Wright Jr. age 88, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015. He was born March 12, 1927 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Dewitt T. and Ruby Bridges Wright Sr.
After graduating from the Mississippi School for the Deaf, he went to work for the Clarion Ledger newspaper in Jackson, Mississippi. In 1966, he moved his family to Memphis, where he went to work for The Commercial Appeal newspaper until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Kirby Woods Baptist Church in Memphis. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Gene Bailey.
Survivors are three children, Tim Wright and wife, Sharon of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Mary Brown of Seattle, Washington and Earl Wright and wife, Terri of Snohomish, Washington; seven grandchildren, Neil Wright, Tara Hughes and husband, Aaron, Jason Fulghum, Connie Fulghum, Christopher Wright, Jonathan Wright and wife, Megan, Patricia Wright and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will 6-8 PM Wednesday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 26th at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City, Mississippi.
