Diane W. Arendt, a beloved matriarch whose warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her, passed away on January 19, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on August 22, 1946, in Rome, Georgia, Diane's journey through life was one marked by compassion, hard work, and an enduring devotion to her family and faith.
Diane’s career blossomed shortly after graduating from Frazier High School in Memphis, TN. In the summer of 1985, she walked through the doors of Remount Liquor store, a decision that would define much of her professional life, leading her to dedicate over 35 years to this establishment. It was not merely a job for Diane; it was a community hub where she cultivated lasting relationships. George Arendt, who would soon become her husband, recognized her incredible spirit as he hired her, and just three months later, they embarked on their first date to the rodeo, marking the beginning of a loving partnership that flourished into a 40-year marriage built on friendship and mutual respect.
Diane's vibrant personality shone brightly in every aspect of her life. A social butterfly with a big heart, she was known for her humor and sass, effortlessly making friends wherever she went. Her nurturing spirit earned her the affectionate title of "momma" from both customers and friends, emphasizing the close connections she formed throughout her life. Diane reveled in her role as a caregiver, taking great pride in being surrounded by family and friends, many of whom became like family to her.
Her love extended beyond the walls of her home; she cherished her time spent with her church family at St. Anne Catholic Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. Gardening was another passion of hers, providing her with a connection to nature as well as a peaceful retreat. Among her many beloved companions were her Scotty dogs, with McDuff holding a particularly cherished place in her heart.
Diane’s legacy will continue to resonate through her surviving family: her devoted husband, George Arendt; her cherished son, Scott Miller (Renee); her step-sister, Barbara Boggs; and one niece, all of whom carry forward the values of love, kindness, and dedication that she instilled in them. She also leaves behind her beloved granddaughter, Megan. They had a very special relationship, one that she held close to her heart.
She joins in eternal rest her dear parents, Hollis Weatherford and Maxine McNeer, as well as her brothers, Kim, Keith, and James McNeer.
A visitation will be held in her honor on January 30, 2026, from 11:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, located at 6150 Remount Rd, North Little Rock, AR. This will be followed by a Rosary at noon, and a Funeral Service commencing at 12:30 PM. Diane will then be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock at 2:00 PM, where loved ones can gather to celebrate a life well-lived.
Diane W. Arendt leaves behind a narrative enriched with memories, laughter, and an indomitable spirit, one that will forever echo in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
