Dillard Blocker, age 82, of Story, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011. He was born on October 24, 1928 at Jessieville, the son of Perry Blocker and Elizabeth Ratliff Blocker. On March 3, 1957, he was married to Pearl Hyde Blocker. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruby Lane and Marie Parliment. A lifelong outdoorsman, he worked building nursery ponds and operating heavy machinery for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching baseball on television and training dogs. As a Corporal in the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the V.F.W. in Mount Ida. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Blocker of Story; one son, Mark Blocker of Story; one sister, Lorene Matull of Las Vegas, Nevada; one granddaughter, Markie Blocker of Story; one special nephew, Freddy Parliment of Mount Ida, and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Reed Cemetery in Story with Bro. Tommy Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be Ted Elder, Tracy Smith, Bill Scurlock, Marvin Short, Sherlon Reed, and Freddy Parliament. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
