Don Lantrip, 83, of Scott, Arkansas, passed away on April 28, 2025. He was born on December 30, 1941 in Wattensaw, Arkansas to the late James and Lola Lantrip. He lived a full life defined by service, craftsmanship, love for family, and an enduring passion for the outdoors. He was a devoted husband, dad and papaw.
A proud Navy Veteran who served in Vietnam, Don continued his dedication to hard work and leadership as a talented carpenter, estimator, project manager, and general contractor. He was the founder of Lantrip Construction Company and was honored as Arkansas Apprentice Carpenter of the Year in 1972—a testament to his skill, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
Don's zest for life was as evident in his hobbies as it was in his work. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, swimmer, coach, and proud Tush Hog member and Arkansas Razorbacks fan. Whether he was boating, traveling, or cruising, Don embraced every adventure with enthusiasm and good humor.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene Lantrip (his baby),of over 60 years of marriage and his sons, Don E. (Julie) Lantrip and Daniel (Tina) Lantrip. Don was a proud grandfather to Bailey Miller, Katelyn (Clayton) Vaught, Lacey (Chase) Withers, and Don Austin Lantrip, and a beloved great-grandfather to Landen Miller, Lucy Miller, Jacquelyn Miller, Haydence Miller, and Wyatt Withers; he also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Mike Goshen, A.D. Lantrip, James Lantrip, Jewel Evelyn Lantrip Bakalekas, Dale Lantrip, Curtis Lantrip, and Michael Lantrip.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home in North Little Rock. A celebration of Don’s life will take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 11:30 AM at NLR First Assembly of God, where Don was a devoted member for over 60 years, with burial to follow at Arkansas State Veteran Cemetery in Sherwood, Arkansas.
Don’s legacy of service, craftsmanship, and deep love for his family and community will continue to inspire all who knew him.
