Don Aaron Shumate, 81, of Little Rock passed away Monday, March 25, 2013. He was a United States Army veteran in the Korean War, a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, retired from St. Vincent and a HAMM Radio Operator (KE5AO). He enjoyed gardening, yard work and will be remembered as a true comedian.
He is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Patsy Luroyce Box Shumate; son, Michael Don Shumate; brothers, Robert Shumate (Ann), J.T. Shumate (Juanita), Randall Rhoads (Sadie) and Dallas Rhoades (Mary); and sisters, Bobbie Lucille Joslin (Odis) and Tamsey Elder (Bill). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vivian Glover Shumate; seven siblings, Wayne Shumate, Efleda Rice, Robbie Speck, Montean Hollingshead, Oleta Lokey, Juanita Carter and Bill Shumate; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
