Donald Leroy Garrison

Donald Leroy Garrison, 89, of Sherwood passed from this life on Thursday April 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 4, 1935 to Langdon & Lena Holland Garrison in Prichard, Alabama.

Don joined the United States Air Force in 1952 where he spent his entire career serving our country. After his retirement in 1972, he enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Razorbacks, and tending to his lawn. He was a big fan of taste-testing his wife’s cooking and was truly a jack of all trades when it came to fixing things and problem solving. He loved his family fiercely.

Those who preceded Don in death are his parents; daughter Vickie Lynn Cleveland; brother Langdon Garrison; and great-grandaughter Faith Vincent.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Freeman Garrison; sons Donald Leroy Garrison, Jr. (Sarah) and Larry Charles Gatrell (Tammy); brother Wayne Garrison (Dorothy); grandchildren Jeremy Lasiter, Jessica Vincent, Samuel Cleveland, Alynn Brown, Hannah Cleveland, Eric Cleveland, and Haley Bailey; 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 9:30 AM Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Smith Sherwood Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to be held 30 minutes prior to the service. Don will be interred at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery with military honors at 11:00 AM.
