Doris Allen

Doris Ann (Shipley) Allen, age 84, of North Little Rock, formerly of Jacksonville, AR passed away on March 29, 2017 at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on February 20, 1933 to James Henry and Ruby Pearl Shipley at Elgin, Arkansas.
She enjoyed many hobbies such as jewelry making, gardening and volunteering at Rebsman Memorial Hospital, where she served many years, in various capacities.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James L. Allen, her son, James H. Allen and her parents.
She is survived by her sister Jimmie (Howard) House of Tallapoosa, Georgia. Her daughter Aleecia (Danny) Starkey, granddaughter Alyssa (Wesley) Goad and great-grandson Daniel Goad all of Sherwood, Arkansas. She is also survived by grandson Christopher (Katie) Allen and great -grandchildren Paige, Avery and Cooper Allen of Rogers, Arkansas. She further leaves sisters-in-law Beulah West of Little Rock, Arkansas, Mary Smith of Alabaster, Alabama and daughter-in-law Melanie Allen of Bentonville, Arkansas. She further leaves to cherish her memory many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to Thank "Mama's Angels", "her Baptist Hospice Group" (Jenna, Trish, Judy and Jim) and the staff at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation.
A service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:00 A.M at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home, 7700 Highway 107, Sherwood, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home.
