Dorothy Ann Uekman Chadwick Celebration of Life
December 11, 1927 – February 5, 2026
Dorothy Ann Uekman Chadwick, 98, of Mabelvale, AR was born on December 11,1927 and passed away from this life on February 5, 2026. Her German father, Casper Herman Uekman and Polish mother, Carrie Barthol Uekman predecease her, along with her husband Orville Chadwick, sons Douglas Lassiter and David Friou, and grandson Shawn Hughes.
Dorothy was the youngest of four girls, and 1 brother. She graduated from NLR High, then worked for SW Bell Telephone Company for 2 years before moving to Amarillo, TX where she married, had 5 children and lived for 19 years.
After the death of her mother in 1964, she moved back to Arkansas where she earned her LPN license and began her nursing career at St. Vincent’s Infirmary. It was at the hospital that she met her future husband, Orville. It was Orville that took her to her first non-denominational church service, and she was never the same. She frequently told others of her “born again” birthday of March 11, 1974. She was a faithful member of First Gospel Church for 32 years.
Dorothy will be remembered for her 74 years of faithful care for her handicapped son, Doug, her great cooking, her lively conversations about politics and current events, her love of gardening and her love for Jesus.
She is survived by her daughter Teresa Clayton (Lynn), sons Arthur Hughes (Jennifer) and Robert Hughes, and daughter-in-law Debra Hughes.
6 grandchildren – Anthony (Jenny), Stephanie (Tanner), Blakely (Roxie), Alan, Staci, and Brandon, along with 7 great grandchildren – Maddox, Wyatt, Winnie, Peyton, Scarlett, Bryant, and Preston, along with bonus greats Nathaniel (Carissa) and Brynnan.
Her favorite scripture was 1 Corinthians 2:9 – “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him.”
A memorial service is being planned for a future date.
