Dorothy "Kitty" Yeager

January 13, 1927 — October 8, 2023

Arkadelphia

Kitty Yeager, born Dorothy Ann Clingan, skated off to Heaven with the love of her life, Beebe, on their 74th wedding anniversary, Sunday, October 8, 2023. She was born in Arkadelphia, AR to Beulah Francis Clingan and Louis Eugene Clingan on January 13, 1927.

Survivors are her two children, Jack Beebe Yeager (Teresa Snook) of Little Rock, AR, and Jill Yeager Escalante (Steve) of Houston, TX. One grandson, Nicholas Yeager Elliott (Chantal) of Houston, TX, and one granddaughter, Katja G. Yeager of Nashville, TN, two step grandchildren, Lucas Escalante (Kiley) of Fayetteville, AR, and Ashlyn Escalante of Little Rock, AR. There is one special grand dog, SadieBugs Escalante, who was her entertainment and dining buddy.

Kitty is preceded in death by her sweetheart, Jacob Beebe (B.) Yeager, one sister, Helen Beatrice Gray, two brothers, Leonard Bruce Clingan, and Dr. Clayburn Ross (Rab) Clingan.

She is a graduate of Arkadelphia High School and attended Henderson State Teacher’s College Arkadelphia (HSU).  Kitty was working as a telephone operator in Arkadelphia when she saw, and soon fell in love with her handsome Beebe, whom she met at the local roller-skating rink. They were a skating pair, as people would come from all around to see them skate.  She enjoyed painting, growing flowers, writing poems and short stories, raising Jack and Jill, and dancing with Beebe.  She made certain that any stray animal that came around was fed, and promptly taken down to the animal shelter to be spayed or neutered, paying for these procedures.

God came first in her life. She was born a Methodist and attended both Baptist and Methodist churches during her life. She loved the Davidson Campground that she attended as a child. Kitty was Spirit filled no matter where she chose to attend church.

As a long time member of the Poets Roundtable of Arkansas, Kitty wrote and won numerous awards for her entries. She published one book of poetry Tracks of a Unicorn, and was working on her second book, Southern Cinderella, when she became ill. She was presented her last poetry award while living at the Plaza, Arkadelphia.

Kitty happily moved to Houston to live with Jill and Steve until she needed full time care. She became a big Astros fan while living in Texas.

Many thanks to the employees for the love she received while in assisted living at The Plaza at Twin Rivers in Arkadelphia, and for the exceptional care she was given at Twin Rivers Health and Rehab in Arkadelphia. We particularly wish to thank our cousin, Cathie Golden, who gave (her Kitty Poo) loving time and special attention in the last few days of her life and after.

There will be a short graveside service at Rest Haven Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Friday October 13, 2023, with Brother Stan Escalante officiating. Private condolences may be sent via email to Jack,  jbyeager20@gmail.com or Jill, bayoukitten@gmail.com .
