Douglas R. Brown, a cherished son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on April 29, 2026. Born on July 6, 1953, in Monroe, Louisiana, Douglas’s life was marked by dedication, camaraderie, and a spirit that brought joy to those around him.
A proud graduate of Ouachita Parish High School, Douglas embarked on a long and fulfilling career at Sue's Pawn Shop, where he served as the sales and gun expert since 1992. His deep knowledge and passion for his work were evident to all who knew him, and he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.
Douglas was a man who made everyone laugh, brightening the days of friends and family with his wit and good humor. His favorite pastimes reflected his love of the outdoors—he was an avid fisherman, primarily in bass and crappie fishing, and he spent many hours hunting alongside his closest friends. Music also brought him happiness; he enjoyed listening to Old Country tunes mixed with a hint of Marvin Gaye.
He is survived by his son Joshua Ryan Brown and Joshua’s partner, Nicole McMichael, as well as his beloved grandchildren Oakleigh Ryan Brown, Brayden Brown, and Brylee Brown. Douglas also leaves behind his brothers Kenneth Brown, Keith Brown, and James Brown. His close friend Cecilia Dodd provided steadfast companionship and support throughout the years.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Milton Brown and Doris Jean Brown.
Douglas R. Brown’s life was one of devotion to family, friendship, and the simple joys that made each day meaningful. He will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family extends special thanks and heartfelt recognition to Cecilia Dodd and Amberwood Health & Rehab for their compassionate care and support.
In keeping with the family's wishes, services will be held privately. There will be no public visitation.
